BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
Beginning in November 2024, the Village of Glencoe commenced a study of the public way within Glencoe's Central Business District. While this area is enjoying success in the form of vibrant shops, restaurants, cafes and services, parking availability has historically been challenging.
The Glencoe Parking + Streetscape Study planning process was intended to help develop viable options that improve parking usage and management, pedestrian safety, existing trees, outdoor seating and dining, lighting, pavement, plantings and site furnishings. Parking solutions explore physical and programmatic improvements that can be made to advance efficiencies related to the parking system. This planning effort builds upon previous planning studies, such as the Village's 2024 Comprehensive Plan and the 2016 Downtown Plan.
The Village Board most recently discussed the draft Study at the May 18, 2026 Committee of the Whole meeting, at which it reviewed the Plan Commission's recommendations and directed the planning team to bring a final draft of the study to the June 18, 2026 Village Board meeting for final review and adoption.
The attached final draft Study has incorporated the feedback provided by the Village Board at its January and May 2026 meetings, along with recommendations from the Plan Commission's review in April 2026. The draft includes:
