BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
As part of the Village's Strategic Plan, a staffing analysis was planned for the Public Safety Department. As a similar study had not been conducted in many decades, and owing to the changing environment and dynamic around the services required of the fully cross-trained department, it was determined that this study would help guide planning for the department for the future. As such, the Village engaged with Fitch & Associates in April 2025 to perform a staffing study for the Department.
The study, composed of an analysis of numerous data sets including calls for service, training, staff interviews, interviews of key stakeholders and a comparison of nearby agencies and municipalities resulted in a comprehensive report. As a component of this report, ten proposed recommendations are outlined for the Village to consider moving forward. A copy of the study and staff's summary of it are attached. These have likewise been shared with the entire Public Safety Department.
Fitch & Associates Partner Guillermo Fuentes, MBA and Senior Consultant Melanie Bevan will be present to outline the report.
